Ottawa lawyer ignores rights of a physically challenged person

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms clearly states that “physically disabled people are entitled to equitable treatment, and to live without fear in regards to their security of person, and discrimination.” This is in line with the ubiquitous notion that grants every Canadian equal human right.

There have been quite a number oflaws structured in Ontario, to ensure that physically disabled people are benefactors.

John Summers though—a lawyer in Ontario, seems quite reluctant to oblige with the civil rights and moral obligations that the physically challenged people are entitled to in at least one case.

On 24 March 2017, Ontario Superior Court judge—Justice Callum Macloed, in Ottawa, gave a direction on a motion that instructed John Summers to go with a religious envoy to visit a physically disabled woman—who is a victim of his abusive client, and ensure that she is not being “held prisoner”.

Mr. Summers has failed to comply with the court’s injunction, citing that his client has restricted his visitation and that of the court endorsed envoy from seeing his wife. This however, shows Summers` lackadaisical approach towards fulfilling his obligations.

A legal practitioner should know better, and Mr. Summers could have insisted that his client respect the court’s injunction, else he would withdraw his services—as a sign of respect for the rights of the physically disabled.

But then the physically disabled victim Dezrin, has been living in inhumane conditions, courtesy of the forced isolation and has lost the ability to walk, write, and talk—all because Mr. Summers apparently would rather smile to the bank than care about the well being of a “disabled old lady”.

This kind of cruelty should never be encouraged, and I employ you to play a part in ensuring that Raymond her son, is able to seek further legal actions against the sneaky lies perpetrated by Mr. Summers, and his presiding over the failure to support the Ontario Superior Court of Justice’s sought “independent verification”.
