Have you been debating on whether you should send your child to a private high school? If so, you are not alone. Many parents have concerns with the public-school system and are taking proactive measures to ensure their child gets the proper education. As you will find below, private high schools have many benefits and advantages over public school. Today, we are going to take a deeper look at these benefits so that you can make a more educated decision.

Smaller Class Sizes

When it comes to class size, public schools are notorious for having overcrowded classrooms. This can not only make the teacher’s job harder, it can also negatively affect individual students. Some students need greater guidance from teachers and having such large class sizes will make it difficult to get that attention. Private schools, however, have small class sizes which allow teachers to help those students that need more guidance and instruction. Whether you’re looking for a private high school Toronto or in other parts of Canada, class size is something you should always consider.

Teachers That Are Dedicated

One of the main reasons why so many parents are sending their kids to private high schools is because of teacher dedication. Teachers at private schools are often passionate about the subjects they teach and often spend more time getting advanced degrees in their field. This dedication to teaching and the knowledge they possess gives them the tools they need to shape young minds. These teachers will often act as positive role models and their students look up to them. Private school teachers are more readily available to students and parents simply because they have fewer students to deal with. This allows them to focus more on the individual student which is always good.

A Safe Environment

With the increase in school shootings and the ever-present danger that comes with schoolyard bullying, parents are turning to private schools for safety. One study that was conducted in the United States found that private schools are twice as safe as their public counterparts. This may be partly due to the fact that class sizes are small and teachers can spot problems such as bullying quickly. On the other hand, bullying is rampant in public schools because there is not enough faculty to keep an eye on everyone. In some public schools, there is also a real problem with gang-related activities which you rarely find in private schools.

As you can see, there are many benefits of attending a private high school. With smaller class sizes, the teachers in private schools can give extra help to those students that need it. Also, teachers seem to be more dedicated to their jobs and work hard to hone their craft. Studies show that private schools are much safer than public schools which is very important. So, if you are thinking of placing your child in a private school, it’s probably a good idea that you do. While you may have to pay out of pocket for private school, the money you spend will be well worth it.
